Folding a wet prep tub saves space but creates a small closed environment inside the vehicle. A few minutes of draining and drying make the difference between a clean tub and one that needs another wash before the next meal.
The 8L folding tub has a drain and lid that should be included in the packing routine. Put the folded tub near the top of a storage box, not under heavy pans.
The order that prevents trapped water
- Remove loose food and empty the tub before washing it.
- Dry the plug, lower corners and folding seams, not only the middle of the base.
- Keep the lid separate until the tub and lid have both dried.
Pack it in four steps
- Rinse and wash the tub at the end of the meal, then open the drain.
- Wipe the main surfaces and leave the folds open in the air.
- Place the lid loosely on top and let any condensation clear.
- Fold the dry tub, secure the lid and pack it where it will not be crushed.
If space is tight, a smaller tub can be left open to dry on the vehicle’s dashboard area while you pack other items. Never fold a larger tub wet just to fit it into a cupboard; choose a smaller format or a larger drying area.
A dry tub is easier to trust
Packing is not only about fitting everything in. It is also about making sure the equipment starts the next trip clean, dry and ready to use.
