Skewers take up a surprising amount of space because they need to lie flat. A deep bowl forces them into a bundle, while a wide, shallow tub keeps the pieces arranged and easier to lift onto the grill.

The 8L foldable prep tub is useful for small skewer batches. If you use wooden sticks, protect the exposed ends from soaking longer than the recipe needs; if you use metal skewers, check that the lid still closes above them.

Pack for flat transport

  • Choose a tub whose internal width suits the skewer length.
  • Use a shallow layer of marinade and turn the skewers rather than filling the tub.
  • Keep exposed stick ends from piercing the lid or a plastic bag.

A practical skewer routine

  1. Thread the ingredients on a clean board and lay the skewers in one direction.
  2. Coat them with marinade, close the lid and chill until cooking.
  3. Transport the tub flat in a cooler and open it away from loose clothing or dry food.
  4. Grill from the clean side of the tub and keep cooked skewers on a separate serving tray.

For two people, an 8L tub usually holds enough skewers for one round. A 16L tub helps when the skewers are long or when several batches need to stay organized. Always measure the inside, not only the outside.

Flat is easier to handle

Lay the skewers out once and move them as a single contained batch. That reduces food loss, keeps marinade off the car interior and makes the handoff to the grill much quicker.
